A Note About Shipping

We often get comments about the high cost of shipping. We fully understand these concerns and share them with you. In fact, we have been told that we should expect shipping costs to increase. At Scandinavian Spice, we do not charge additional shipping and handling fees. We pass along only the costs charged by our carriers. We do not hide shipping costs in the costs of our products. Many companies try this while offering "free shipping", or absorbing the cost of shipping. Many of the companies that absorbed the shipping costs are not around anymore or they abandoned the practice. Scandinavian Spice was founded on the principle of value not pricing. The lowest price is often times not the best value. We believe that we offer high quality products at competitive pricing. Orders are usually shipped within 48 - 72 hours Monday - Friday, unless it is during the holiday season or a product is on back order. In that case, we will contact you via email. A restocking fee may apply to SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS if you decide not to get them after placing your order. Some of these SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS will take some time to be delivered to you. Our primary carriers are the United States Postal Service and United Parcel Service. Priority Mail from the USPS provides delivery in 3-5 days, Sunday excluded. UPS service can provide service as quickly as next day. The price is determined by weight of the items and the postal zone you live in. The shipping price is calculated and displayed to you after you submit your zipcode but before you submit your order for processing.

Shipping Fees
Shipping charges are determined by the weight of the items and the destination postal/zip code. They are calculated using the UPS and the US Post Office rate tables. These are the fees they charge us. We do not profit from these charges. Unfortunately when you order a single item minimum rates apply. More weight may be added, usually for just a few pennies to spread the shipping cost over several items. The amount posted on the site is what your credit card will be charged. You may select whatever listed shipping method you prefer. For UPS shipments a valid street address is required. UPS is unable to ship to a post office (PO) box. There will be a $12.00 charge for destination address changes after the item(s) are shipped and before they are delivered, after that full reshipping charges apply.

Delivery Times
The website will automatically default to UPS ground for US shipments, cheapest way for outside the US. Our stated shipping lead time is 2-5 business days. However, UPS Orders placed before 1:00pm EST Mon-Fri will usually be shipped the same day. When the UPS package is shipped, you will be emailed a tracking number and web URL so you can follow the delivery.
U.S. post Office Orders placed before 10:00 am EST Mon-Fri will usually be shipped the same day. Orders placed after these times or on weekends or holidays will be shipped the following business day. However, some products could require 2 to 5 business days to ship. If any of the items in your cart are in that category, your entire order will be held until all items can be shipped together.
